My Way provides a few different types of disability-supported accommodation. We work closely with you to find an accommodation and support package that best matches your needs. Our properties are fully furnished, with bedding, TV and internet supplied to help make your transition easier.
As a provider, we are registered for Specialist Disability Accommodation or SDA. Although we are registered, we are not delivering SDA just yet. SDA is housing that is designed for people living with a disability who have extreme and high needs. In this program, the house has to be a new build.
This is also a supported accommodation for people with disabilities who also have high needs and who need 24/7 care and support. You cannot be left alone and need a support worker to support you in the home where you are living. This type of housing is not a new build. It can be an existing home that might be modified to meet your needs. This type of home is shared. It can be shared by two or three people with a disability, based on their needs. A very careful matching process ensures that the people sharing are not impacting each other’s disability. It is important that they’re not triggering traumas or daily anxiety. My Way currently supports five share houses under the SIL program.

If you live independently some of the time, the Individualised Living Option might be suitable for you. This means your support team come in the morning and again in the evening. During the daytime you are on your own because you are comfortable with that. You can be supported either in your own home or in government housing.
If you don’t have a permanent home where you live, then you can come to one of My Way’s supported accommodation options where you also can share with another person, maybe another person with a disability or even another person without a disability. We call that housemates’ arrangement or flatmates’ arrangement.
In this model, two people who are compatible can live harmoniously, with their individualised living support in place. Support workers can come in at some time in the day if needed. Some people who are based near a university or college might choose to share with a student who they get on with. That student is not paying rent, but it is an exchange for providing that kind of emergency support, maybe at nighttime, dinnertime, or breakfast time assistance, or just help with medications.
This is short and medium-term accommodation for people living with a disability who are experiencing homelessness. You may be waiting for an NDIS decision regarding funding. Temporary funding is provided for housing as you wait for NDIS to make their funding decision or for your Support Co-ordinator to gather more information for your NDIS application.
